CES 2020: ASUS ExpertBook B9450FA – the lightest and thinnest business 14″ laptop

On the eve of the opening of the largest consumer electronics exhibition CES 2020, ASUS held an event in which our journalists participated. It again showed a very interesting ExpertBook B9450FA mobile PC, which is about to be released, which is distinguished by its amazing compactness and lightness. In particular, the company calls it the lightest 14-inch business laptop in the world.

The thickness of a regular finger-type battery is 14 mm, and ExpertBook boasts a thickness of only 14.9 mm. The same with other sizes (320 × 202 mm), which are almost identical to the dimensions of a standard A4 sheet (297 × 210 mm). This was achieved, among other things, due to thin frames – the effective screen area in relation to the cover area is 92%. The weight of the device is only 880 grams for a model with a 33 Wh battery or 990 gram with a 66 Wh battery. Despite its lightness and compactness, the B9 can offer up to 22 hours of battery life on a more capacious battery.

It should also be noted that the case is made of magnesium alloy, a backlit keyboard that is protected from moisture, a physical shutter to close the pupil of the webcam, and finally, a large touch panel (127 × 65 mm), marked as a block of numeric keys. In order to more efficient cooling and printing convenience, a special ErgoLift hinge is implemented, which lifts the rear of the case and creates a slight slope.

ASUS promises increased laptop resistance to shock, drops, vibrations, dirt and dust, temperature extremes, high humidity. Among the ports can be noted the presence of a full-sized USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, two Thunderbolt 3 ports in USB-C format (high-speed charging, video output and high-speed data transfer in one cable), HDMI output, micro-HDMI for LAN chip, Kensington and, Finally, a 3.5mm audio headphone jack.

Among the technical characteristics are the tenth generation Intel Core i7 and i5 processors with Intel UHD Graphics 620, 16 GB of RAM on board, two SSD M.2 PCIe x4 drives (up to 2 × 1 TB, Full HD screen with 100 percent color space coverage NTSC, Intel 802.11 a / b / g / n / ax (2×2), Bluetooth, fingerprint sensor, dual microphone, Harman Kardon stereo speakers.

The price and time of arrival of the ASUS ExpertBook B9450FA on the market has not yet been announced, but this should happen very soon.
