Elon Musk offers Starlink users “UFO on a stick”

The head of SpaceX shared a concise instruction on connecting to a new Internet service.

Starlink’s user terminal looks like a “thin, flat, round UFO on a stick,” wrote SpaceX CEO Ilon Musk on Twitter. According to him, to connect to the network with it, you just need to insert the plug into the outlet and direct the device to the sky. The businessman emphasized that no training is required.

Now there are already 120 of them in space. Recall that the first 60 pieces were launched in May 2019, later three of them lost contact with the Earth. According to the plans of the Mask, in total, tens of thousands of Starlink devices will revolve around the planet. The main objective of the project, he called the provision of cheap Internet access to three billion people, that is, almost half of the world’s population. The company noted that the system will support the 5G standard.

Recall that now around the Earth, according to various sources, from one to two thousand working satellites and hundreds of thousands of debris from their used vehicles rotate. Some experts criticized the Starlink project. In their opinion, the claimed number of satellites will create a dangerous situation related to the accumulation of space debris. In addition, astronomers lamented that Starlink devices could interfere with observations.
