The Chinese company Xiaomi has patented a new smartphone with a unique display

The case of the new device, which is being developed by the Chinese company Xiaomi, will be completely covered by the volumetric display

The other day, the news portal GizmoChina, citing the Chinese edition of CNMO, said that the Chinese company Xiaomi has patented a new device, the case of which is almost completely covered by the display. It is somewhat reminiscent of the Mi Mix Alpha model, which is the first smartphone with a volumetric display covering most of the device. However, it is not yet clear whether the concept will turn into a commercial product.

Looking at the images in the patent application, we can say that the novelty looks quite different from the Mi Mix Alpha. The only similarity lies precisely in the “display” coating of the case. Apparently, the Chinese manufacturer intends to try to wipe the nose of competitors with their clamshells with full screens with the help of such a novelty, it’s just hard to imagine what it is in operation.

Recall, the Mi Mix Alpha smartphone was first introduced in September last year. According to company management, the start of mass production is nearing. In terms of specifications, the device is equipped with a 7.92-inch flexible OLED display with a resolution of 2088 × 2250 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor in combination with 12 GB of RAM and runs on MIUI Alpha.
