Soon, Apple MacBook laptops may appear a new mode of operation that provides increased performance – Pro Mode. Users will be able to manually enable it if necessary.
There are links to the new operating mode in the beta version of macOS Catalina 10.15.3, however it is not yet available as a working tool. It is noted that when the Pro Mode mode is activated, applications can run faster, but the battery life of the devices will decrease, and the noise from the cooling system may increase. In addition, when a new mode is activated, restrictions on the fan speed will be disabled. Additionally, it is noted that these changes are automatically deactivated the next day.
There are still many questions regarding the operation of the Pro Mode function. There is no information yet when it will become available to users and on which models it can be activated. Most likely, the owners of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops that use an improved cooling system will be able to experience the benefits of such overclocking. But on older devices with less efficient coolers, the performance gain may be insignificant if they manage to activate the new mode at all.
