Even at the epicenter of a coronavirus outbreak, everything is OK

Production of components for smartphones and other electronics is going according to plan

The city of Wuhan in Hubei province in central China remains in quarantine due to an outbreak of coronavirus. Despite this, chip makers Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) and Wuhan Xinxin Semiconductor Manufacturing (XMC), a foundry subsidiary, maintain that this did not affect production rates or delivery times.

Companies say their chip supply remains stable despite an outbreak of coronavirus in the region. The company representative said that it maintains a normal pace of production, and the supply of components is carried out without the slightest disruption.

Yangtze Memory Technologies said the company has taken a number of preventative measures to ensure the safety of its employees. Measures taken by the company include quarantine procedures, provision of medical masks, temperature checks, enhanced disinfection and remote meetings.

Earlier reports appeared that due to the outbreak of coronavirus in China, a blow to the production and supply chain of various smartphones and accessories may occur. In particular, there were reports that this will affect the accessories for the Samsung Galaxy S20 line.

At the same time, Foxconn representatives confirmed that there should not be any delays.
