IDC Analysts Named Tablet Market Leader for 2019

144 million tablets released in 2019

IDC analysts summed up the past quarter and the whole of 2019 in the tablet market. According to their calculations, 43.5 million of these devices were shipped during the quarter, which is 0.6% less in annual terms. In total, 144 million tablets were released in a year. This is 1.5% less than in 2018.

It is noteworthy that Apple not only retained its leadership, but was able to increase supplies over the year. If in the fourth quarter of 2018 it shipped 12.9 million pieces, then for the same period in 2019 – 15.9 million pieces. As a result, Apple’s share increased from 29.6% to 36.5%.

In second place is Samsung, which reduced shipments from 7.6 million units to 7.0 million units over the year. As a result, the market share owned by the South Korean manufacturer decreased from 17.3% to 16.1%.

The third place is occupied by Huawei, whose share over the year decreased from 9.3% to 9.1%.

Amazon.com and Lenovo are also in the top five, with 7.6% and 5.8% respectively.
