WhatsApp has introduced tough restrictions

The largest and most popular communication service is WhatsApp, and it is incredibly popular around the world. More than 2 billion people use this communication software on an ongoing basis. Due to this, all of them can make voice calls, exchange text and voice messages, send media files, make video calls, share their location, conduct discussions in group chats, and perform a number of other actions, all of which have a positive effect on the attractiveness of this service. Its functionality has been expanding over the years, that is, the messenger receives more and more such capabilities, using which you can perform various actions.

However, something happened that absolutely no one expected, because the administration of this messenger today, April 7, 2020, introduced strict restrictions for all users, and they have already entered into force, affecting residents of Russia, the USA, and Ukraine. Europe. Kazakhstan, Australia, Brazil and other states. It is reported that due to the prevalence of a disease such as coronavirus, it was decided to prohibit users from forwarding any message to more than one person. Simply put, if, as part of a correspondence with someone, a user wants to forward a message to someone, he will be able to do this only to one person from the contact list, while two, three or four cannot send this.

According to the creators of WhatsApp, some people are currently using the messenger to spread false information. Such people, in pursuit of unknown goals, deliberately spread false information about the coronavirus COVID-19, doing this in order to create a sense of panic among the residents of certain states. To do this, use the function of forwarding messages from one user to another. That is why the administration of the messenger considered it necessary to introduce such an innovation that prohibits sending a message to more than one person. When the situation with the COVID-19 coronavirus returns to normal, they promise to cancel such a restriction, so that smartphone owners will again be able to send messages to an unlimited number of people.

At the same time, the developers of the messenger assure that in the near future they may take other measures that will help combat the spread of inaccurate information about the coronavirus via WhatsApp. It is not known exactly what measures are in question, but, for example, the creators of the service may well introduce the function of automatic moderation in public chats so that a special AI checks the information for reliability and, if it is completely fake, blocks the message and account of the person who was originally published it. Obviously, the longer humanity will fight this infection, the more severe will be the measures of struggle on the part of all people, including software developers.
