Autel Evo II comes in three varieties
Autel Robotics recently introduced the EVO II drone, which seems to be the first commercially available folding drone with a camera capable of shooting 8K video. More precisely, the device will be offered in three versions, differing by the camera module. For them support 8K.
The base model of the Autel EVO II has a 1/2 inch format camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels. It can take photos with a resolution of up to 8000×6000 pixels. When shooting video, the maximum resolution is 7720×4320 pixels. The camera provides lossless zoom up to 4x. The take-off weight of the drone is 1127g.
The EVO II Pro is equipped with a camera with a 1-inch sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels. The camera lens has an adjustable aperture (f/2.8-f/11). The camera supports 6K video and HDR. The sensitivity range is ISO 100–12800. This version weighs 1174g.
Finally, in the EVO II Dual, the camera from the first version is supplemented with a Boson FLIR thermal sensor with a resolution of up to 640×512 pixels. The take-off weight of the EVO II Dual 320 is 1157g, the EVO II Dual 640 is 1192g.
In all three cases, a 10-bit color depth is used, and the maximum bitrate is 120 Mbps. There is no information about the frame rate and the codec used yet. Note that all options of EVO II are modular, that is, the camera module can be put in any of the three without buying a new drone.
The maximum flight time of the EVO II is 40 minutes, and the communication range is 9 km. The drone can travel at speeds up to 72 km/h. A dozen computer vision sensors and AI algorithms help avoid collisions. This system can be turned off to get full manual control. Available 8 GB of internal memory with the ability to add a microSD card up to 256 GB.
An interesting feature of Autel drones is the lack of locking in areas closed to flights, which is in all modern DJI models. The lock prevents flying into a controlled airspace, but creates serious inconvenience if the pilot received permission to fly in such an area, but cannot remove the lock.
EVO II costs $1,495, EVO II Pro – $1,795. The manufacturer reports the price of EVO II Dual upon request
