Cost – from $1 million
If you suddenly need to deliver a satellite into orbit.
SpaceX has created an online service where you can rent a cargo space on the Falcon 9 rocket to launch satellites. This service is designed for those who do not have money to rent a whole rocket, the cost of which can be up to $60 million. This is reported by TechCrunch.
Prices for this service start from $1 million for goods up to 200 kg, and each extra kilogram will add $5 to the price. On the site, you can select the desired type of orbit where you want to deliver the satellite (polar, low Earth or solar-synchronous). And also – indicate the earliest flight date. Dates are already available starting in June 2020.
The user must specify the total mass of the cargo and the site will calculate its price. It will also indicate which missiles are available and when they are scheduled to be launched.
Additional features like refueling and insurance can raise the launch price to $2 million. The first installment is 5 thousand dollars.
SpaceX previously blew up the Falcon 9 rocket and revealed that astronauts could survive.
